Main map

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Togwotee Pass (Wyoming) to Mac's Inn (Idaho)
Togwotee pass ....Walking the roads towards Yellowstone National Parks

A nice stroll along Jackson Lake

Heading towards Yogi bears 'Jellystone'

Spectacular natural features

Just pretty!

Snow again!!

A nice welcome.......

And then some positive encouragement

It's not all 'peaches and cream' when the snow melts....

"Embrace the brutality"

Finally.....Mac's Inn....a popular destination for CDT'rs

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anaconda to Roger's Pass - (Montana)

Dropped off at the snow line west of Anaconda

Some more road walking....got to get the miles in!

north of Anaconda

Half road ...half Trail

Approaching McDonald pass

Deadfall...always a pain in the butt

The ridges into Rogers's Pass ....looks nice....

But dam cold...had to put socks on my hands

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mac's Inn (Idaho) to Minoda (Montana)

Dropped off at Henry's lake...to hike the road

Still too much snow in the mountains

Very inspiring.....These guys were racing form Banff to Mexico
The fastest will probably do it in 12 days!

A pleasant camp

And a nice sunset!
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle Pass (Colorado) to Sage Brush road (Wyoming)

Moved back to the Colorado border
Get to start in snow again...
Lucky me!

Not taking any chances...have my pseudo 'Ice-axe'

But no snowshoes.... &*^% post hole time again!

Finally ...out of the snow

and back to Sage Brush road again (just south of Rawlins)

The ceremonial 'Dumping of the Boots'
Out with the old and in with the new!

Time to head south to Chama and get serious about the trail,

time to clean up all  the missed bits as we go north!

A trip to Yellowstone National Park

Mammoth Hot Springs...Northern Yellowstone National Park

Morning Glory Pool - Temperature sensitive bacteria produces the spectacular colours
(Yellowstone National Park)

Didn't think these kinds of places still existed.....
A furrier ....(a fur warehouse!)

You could actually buy enough otter furs to make
any number of luxurious fur coats.

It isn't hard to see why fur coats were popular back then.
They look pretty warm!

(We won't mention that the foxes would  probably have
preferred to keep the skins themselves!)

We spare no effort to protect our most valued commodity

After all these years who would have thought we'd find 'Herbie'?

And who would have thought that this 'Christmas Story' lamp actually existed?

Not every one likes CDT hikers - you take your life in your hands to hike the roads down here!

This is a cute story!...The father got married in this truck decades ago,
He had it restored so his daughter could get married in it also!!

Why would these 'instructions' even be necessary??

Sandy is thinking about a career change!

TILL THE NEXT POST
